The Customizing Linux course builds on a student's understanding of important system files in the Linux Operating System (OS). This course helps students understand the best ways to add new daemons to the process. The course also explains how modules and devices are brought online. In addition, the course describes the security issues involved with the Linux OS, FTP, and Telnet as well as some ways to make a system more secure. Finally, the X Window System and its relationship to Linux and the UNIX(R) graphical user interface will be discussed in detail.
