Developing Secure Web Applications

( WI-3602-90 )

     Course DescriptionBack To Top

The Developing Secure Web Applications course looks at the server-side actions that students can take to enhance security in Internet transactions. The course begins with an explanation of firewalls and their role in securing transmission of data. Students learn about the use of virtual private networks (VPNs), and how to use VPNs to gain secure access to intranets from an external connection. Students learn the meaning of Application Program Interfaces (APIs) and Common Gateway Interface (CGI) and the security threats they pose. Finally, students gain an understanding of secure payment systems, with a focus on the most commonly used options available and criteria against which to weigh these options.

This course uses animations to demonstrate some of the concepts covered. Depending on the capabilities and settings of your browser, these animations will appear either in a simple version without audio narration or in a more detailed Macromedia Flash version with audio. For viewers using Netscape Navigator[tm], your browser automatically delivers the Macromedia Flash version if your system supports this. Viewers using Internet Explorer will initially see the simple version, but may choose to view the more detailed Macromedia Flash animation with audio instead. The next animation viewed reflects their last choice.
