    Course Outline/Details

The Software Installation and Management course introduces the Solaris 8 Operating System installation process. The course describes the types of installation, as well as the components of the Solaris 8 Operating System installation software. The course also provides a step-by-step guide to installing the Solaris 8 Operating System with the Solaris Web Start 3.0 product. In addition, the course describes software patches for the Solaris 8 Operating System, including the basic characteristics of patches, patch installation, and ongoing patch management. Finally, the course describes backup and restore processes, including tape drive management, full and incremental backups, and commands for backing up and restoring a file system.
