Learning More About PERL

 Course Description
    Course Outline/Details

The Learning More About PERL course features advanced PERL topics. In this course, students learn how to create their own modules in PERL. Since a module is essentially a specialized package, students first get an understanding of basics of creating and using packages in PERL. Then students learn the basic tenets of object-orientation, that is, encapsulation, inheritance, and polymorphism, and students examine how PERL implements each concept. Next students learn about PERL scripts and security. Finally, students apply the concepts they have learned to develop a real-world Common Gateway Interface (CGI) application for a business in a capstone project.

This course uses animations to demonstrate some of the concepts animations will appear either in a simple version without audio narration or in a more detailed Macromedia Flash version with audio. For viewers using Netscape Navigator, your browser automatically delivers the Macromedia Flash version if your system supports this. Viewers using Internet Explorer will initially see the simple version, but may choose to view the more detailed Macromedia Flash animation with audio instead. The next animation viewed reflects their last choice.
