This course teaches the basic concepts and methods of XML, how it relates to HTML and SGML, and how it is used to solve real-world problems with document presentation and data exchange. For this course, it is important that you have a clear understanding of HTML and the services that it can provide. In this course, you will learn the reasons for using XML and the benefits it offers compared to HTML. The basic structure of XML documents is explored and the important role of the Document Type Definition (DTD) is introduced. Finally, you examine in detail the use of elements, which are key components of the DTD.
