This course, Working with the Java 2 Platform, Micro Edition, Wireless Toolkit 2.0, provides students with an overview of the new features of J2ME Wireless Toolkit 2.0 and how they support Mobile Interface Device Profile (MIDP) 2.0 development. Through the use of flash demonstrations, students will understand both the new features of WTK 2.0, as well as the new tool features which are now available.

This course does not cover the following topics. Many of these topics are covered in other courses offered by SES:

  • Write, compile, and run Java technology programs
  • Write code that leverages the object-oriented features of the Java technology language, such as encapsulation, inheritance, and polymorphism
  • Explain the concepts related to variables, objects and exception handling
  • Create arrays of different data types and design classes with attributes and methods
  • Create multi-threaded applications with Java technology
  • Create programs with graphical user interface (GUI) components: panels, buttons, labels, text fields, and text areas
  • Explain Java technology input/output and networking concepts and how they work
  • Implement the Java technology networking model to make network connections
  • Describe a wireless technology infrastructure
  • Have used software development tools, such as Integrated Development Environments (IDE)
