Mobile Desktop Development with Java Technologies
The Mobile Desktop Development with Java Technologies bundle provides students with a review of graphical user interface (GUI) development with the Java platform Abstract Windowing Toolkit (AWT), an architectural overview of the Java 2 Platform, Micro Edition (J2ME platform) and a technical introduction to the primary profiles found in the Connected Device Configuration (CDC). The first course reviews the use of AWT GUI components, such as buttons, checkboxes, textfields, and so forth. In addition, the mechanics for GUI component event handling are also discussed. The second course provides a discussion of the J2ME configurations, profiles, and standard extensions. Students will have an overall awareness of the J2ME architecture and its technological fit in mobile computing. Course materials also address how the software layers integrate to provide a coherent application environment as compared to other mobile frameworks. The final course, provides a technical introduction to the Personal Basis Profiles and Personal Profiles used to develop rich applications for Smart Phones, PDAs, and other advanced mobile devices.
